Bio

Dan Rountree works in oil, watercolor and pastel. His gallery, Rountree Studio, is located in historic Northport, Alabama. As a plein air artist, his work depicts the scenes he observes as he paints. He has traveled widely and his paintings reflect the diversity of our world–from the hills of Tennessee to the desert near Santa Fe to the islands of Greece.

Dan and his wife, Barbara, live in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. They have been married for 32 years and have six children: Sean, David, Collin, Joe Starnes, Mary Harmon, and William.

As an Illustrator
Dan created the art work for numerous books and articles published by The American Bible Society in New York City and The Upper Room in Nashville, Tennessee.

Paintings and murals
Paintings and murals by Dan Rountree have been commissioned for special events by: Mercedes Benz International, the U.S. Olympic Com. of Alabama, Y.M.C.A., N.C.A.A., S.E.C., City of Northport, University of Alabama, Salt Palace of Salt Lake City, Christian Educators Fellowship, Alabama Board of Industrial Relations, First National Bank of Tuscaloosa, General Board of Discipleship of The United Methodist Church, the North Alabama Conference of the UMC, and Camp Sumatanga.

Education
After earning B.S. and M.A. degrees, Dan has continued to be an art student. He has traveled to study at most of the major galleries of the world. Dan’s art teachers are: Joan Potter, Ken Baccus, Doug Dawson, Michael Lynch, Daniel Greene, David Leffel, Tom Browning, Michael Del Priore, Albert Handel, Ned Bittinger, and Gregg Kreutz.

Private Lessons
Dan also gives private lessons in many different disciplines of art and design.

The Capitol School
Dan currently spends a few days a week at The Capitol School teaching students how to look at the world with an artists vision.
